The 2024–25 Union Budget, while praised as a comprehensive plan, shows a troubling decrease in minority affairs funding, dropping from Rs. 5,020.50 crores in 2022–23 to Rs. 3,183.24 crores. This reduction is alarming given worsening conditions for religious minorities, particularly Muslims, who face declining regular wage employment. In contrast, Telangana's budget for minority welfare increased by 36%, demonstrating a commitment to addressing educational and economic needs. This disparity highlights a critical gap in the central government’s approach to equitable development.
