The night-time economy (NTE) in India presents immense potential for urban growth, cultural vibrancy, and economic progress. However, gendered exclusions rooted in cultural, social, and institutional barriers restrict women's participation, both as workers and consumers. Poor infrastructure, inadequate public transport, unsafe streets, and patriarchal norms limit women's access to nighttime activities. Cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai show promise but still face safety concerns, while Delhi and Hyderabad remain significantly unsafe for women at night. Drawing inspiration from global models like London's Night Czar and Stockholm's gender-sensitive planning, India must prioritize safety, inclusivity, and infrastructural reforms to foster a gender-equal NTE.
