Education

Primary education in India has been a story of ‘come so far and got so far to go’. From an 80% primary school enrolment in 2000, the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan program has raised this to an impressive 98% enrolment in 2020. However, though access is an important first step, it has not yet resulted in impressive learning outcomes. Less than half of Class V students can read a Class II text! Indian education faces several challenges – high dropout rates, teacher scarcity and absences, lack of infrastructure. CDPP is involved in exploring the multiple challenges that lie ahead for the education sector in India. Especially with the New Education Policy in tow, the education industry needs to be understood from a new perspective. CDPP is working on several education-related projects with industry experts and educationists.
