Health
India’s healthcare industry is one of its fastest growing sectors – projected to reach $372 billion by 2022. However, India’s health infrastructure needs to be strengthened to take on the challenges of the twenty-first century and help the country reap the benefits of its demographic dividend. The threats posed by infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance and the growing incidence of non-communicable diseases has amplified mortality rates. With increasing urbanisation and problems related to modern-day living in urban settings has increased the demand for specialised care. In India, lifestyle diseases have replaced traditional health problems. Health equity in India is threatened by the low health status among the poor, female gender, rural inhabitants, tribal communities, scheduled castes (SC) and certain minority groups. At CDPP, the projects on health deal with the healthcare industry, public health, pandemic and inequities in health.
