Hyderabad's journey to becoming a global IT hub has spanned over three decades and encompasses various facets. This study delves into three main areas: firstly, it explores the growth trajectory of the IT industry, drawing insights from ethnographic interviews with key stakeholders. Secondly, it examines international trade in IT and IT services, along with insights from industry leaders regarding the city's future readiness. Thirdly, the study investigates the startup ecosystem in and around Hyderabad, considering both primary and secondary data. Despite rich academic discourse on Hyderabad's transformation, there is a lack of comprehensive research focusing on its evolution into an IT hub. This project aims to fill this gap by narrating Hyderabad's journey through ethnographic interviews and documenting its IT trajectory from the 1970s. Conceived during the COVID-19 pandemic, the study covers a wide range of perspectives, including those of bureaucrats, business leaders, expatriates, historians, and academics. The goal is to create a baseline narrative that captures the multifaceted aspects of Hyderabad's transformation into a global IT hub, providing valuable insights for future study and understanding.
